1046. Nathan Purinton Meader (1843 - 1900)
Nathan Purinton Meader, son of Gideon Meader (1816-1868) [0234] and Louisa Purinton (1820-1900), was born in Waukesha Co., WI January 2, 1843 and died August 2, 1900 at Auburn, NE. He was buried in the Baptist Cemetery at Highland. He married Mary Elizabeth McKee May 26, 1863 at Springvale, WI. She was born April 1, 1840 at Peru, Clinton, NY the daughter of Hiram McKee and Urania Munson Allen, and died at Roseburg, Oregon March 8, 1917. Nathan Meader's obituary read:
“N. P. Meader was born in Waukesha County January 2, 1843 and at an early age moved with his parents to Fond du Lac County. At the age of 19 he taught a district school. May 26, 1863 he married Mary E. McKee of Utica, NY. [...] In June, 1864 he left Wisconsin for Iowa where he took a homestead four miles southwest of Alagona, but came to Nebraska in 1865 where he again taught school in connection with farming for several years. He was one of Nemaha's strong prohibitionists, believing that the way to settle a question is to strike at the root, and not ask God to do for us what we can do for ourselves.”

vi. Malcolm Meader, born in the spring of 1880 at Auburn and died that year.
