1082. Carrie Louisa Meader (1866 - 1915)
Carrie Louisa Meader, daughter of Nathan P. Meader (1843-1900) [1046] and Mary McKee (1840-1817), was born near Auburn, Nemaha, Nebraska June 20, 1866 and died in Roseburg, Oregon December 29, 1915. Her obituary, evidently in the Roseburg newspaper, read in part:
"She united with the M. E. Church at Highland, Nebraska in 1896 under the ministry of Rev. George M. Gates and was engaged in church activities there until the death of her father, when the family left the farm and moved into Auburn. She took an active part in the work of the W.C.T.U., sharing in its official burdens as well. In 1905 she, with her mother and sister, moved to Fairfield, Clay, Nebraska, where she was made superintendent of the primary department of the Sunday School. She was passionately fond of little folks and greatly endeared herself into their hearts, some of whom have preceded their teacher into the Gloryland and others have been sending messages of love and confidence since she came to Roseburg two years ago. She was also a visitor in the home department of the Sunday School at Fairfield, where she brought comfort and sunshine into the homes she entered. Her labors were fruitful, and she lived to see some of the rewards of her efforts.
"She was a most efficient and capable homekeeper, never sparing herself when the interests and comfort of her loved ones were concerned. Her first thought was for ‘Mother.' The bitter desolation and loneliness in the home since she has gone from it is unspeakable."
