1060. Stephen Warren Meader (1892 - 1977)
Stephen Warren Meader, son of Walter Sidney Meader (1857-1938) [1024] and Lucy Hawkes (1865-1952), was born in Providence, RI May 2, 1892 and died at his home in Cape May Court House, NJ July 18, 1977.
He went to New Hampshire with his family, and he attended Rochester High School, graduating with the class of 1908. He was also a graduate of Moses Brown School in Providence and of Haverford College in 1913.
A longtime resident of Moorestown, NJ, he was an advertising copywriter for N. W. Ayer in Philadelphia for more than thirty years. He was a well known author of books for boys, several of which were based in New Hampshire. The setting of two was the Meader family home in Dover.
In 1916 he married Elizabeth Putnam White Hoyt, born October 19, 1894 in Albany, NY and died March 15, 1962 in Moorestown. She was the daughter of Francis Woodworth Hoyt and Margaret Annesley.
