1059. Allen Meader (1841 - 1921)
Allen Meader, son of Allen Meader (b.1810) [0262] and Sarah Copp ( - ), was born at Ellsworth, ME October 18, 1841 and died in February, 1921. In 1861 he began learning the blacksmith's trade, but he enlisted in 1862 in Company C, 26th Maine Volunteer Infantry, where he was a musician in the brigade band. In February, 1865 he and his brother Daniel [1057] moved to Eldora, IA, where their uncle, Thomas G. Copp, lived. In 1872 he and his brother-in-law Melville Watts built a large shop for manufacturing cutters, sleds and other vehicles. In 1883 he was elected Sheriff of Hardin County and served until 1892, when he bought and interest in a hardware store. August 1, 1865 he married Calista W. Watts of Ellsworth, the daughter of Francis Watts and Susan Moore.

ii. Charles Meader, born in 1868 and died in 1870.
2532 iii. Fred L. Meader, born in 1874 and died in 1893.
2533 iv. Harriet M. Meader, born in July, 1883.
