Glenn Stephens Meader, Jr., son of Glenn S. Meader (b.1902) [0510] and Elizabeth McDonald (b.1903), was born in La Crosse, WI August 23, 1929. December 29, 1954 in Jersey City, NJ he married Marion Adele Woitke, born March 14, 1928 in Jersey City the daughter of Henry Augustus Woitke and Sara Viola Mitchell.

He received his BS(EE) degree from Virginia Military Institute in 1951 and his MS in management from American University. A Colonel in the U.S. Army Signal Corps, he was Commander of the Army Command and Control Support Agency in Washington, DC. He received the Legion of Merit with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Services Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnamese Staff Service Medal (1st Class) and the Vietnamese Civic Action Medal (1st Class). Upon retirement in 1977, he joined the BDM Corporation in McLean, VA as a management consultant.

My childhood is as follows. I was born in La Crosse Wisconsin in 1929. I lived in La Crosse and went to the Normal School until 1940. My father worked for the Norther States Power company as a distribution Engineer. In 1940 my father who had been in the Army Reserve since graduating from College at the Minnesota University in Minneapolis Minn was called to active duty at Fort Snelling, just outside Minneapolis. He remained there until 1942 when he was transferred to Fort Monmouth, NJ. In the fall of 1942 he was transferred to Camp Crowder in Missouri. Where he assumed command of the 93rd Signal Battalion. He remained there until 1943 when he was transferred to England for the invasion of Europe. I and my brother and Mother then moved to Omaha where we lived in a the Blackstone Hotel with my Grand parents (Mother’s mother and Dad). I went to the 8th grade in Omaha, then to High School at Central High School until my Father came back from the war and we moved to Eau Clair Wisconsin where we stayed until 1946. My father was integrated into the regular US Army and ordered to Chicago where we lived in La Grange Illinois and I finished my senior year of high School. I then went to college at the Virginia Military Institute where I studied Electrical Engineering. I graduated in 1951 and was commissioned in the regular Army as a 2nd Lt in the Signal Corps.

Glenn Stephens Meader Jr died April 7, 2023 in his home in Reston VA. He was 93.

Worked for one year as a research associate and proposal manager at the BDM Corp an integrated services provider to civil and military customers. Joined the CONTEL Corp in 1978 as Corporate Vice-President of Governmental Relations. Represented all parts of the organization before Congress and the Executive Departments in all areas of Corporate interest such as personnel, benefits, banking, taxes, regulatory, and contracts. Retired after 14 years service in 1992 when CONTEL and GTE were merged.
