0096. James Meader (1779 - 1829)
James Meader, son of Robert Meader (1743-1815) [0036] and Deborah Coker (1746-1826), was born on Nantucket August 8, 1779 and died in North Easton, NY in 1829. He moved with his father's family to North Easton in 1793 and lived on his father's farm on the Cheese Factory Road.
After her husband's death Lucy Meader went to the Plattsburgh area about 1830, where her cousin Polly, wife of James's brother Robert [0097], lived. A Quaker community had been established in this section, and other relatives had already moved there. Lucy took all the Meader children there with her. She later married Andrew Farrell, who kept Farrell's Tavern on the old Military Turnpike west of Chazy and not far from West Chazy.
He married:

1) Susannah Hathaway, daughter of Burton Hathaway and Mary Coker, who was sister or half-sister of James' father's second wife. She died in 1806.

The children of James Meader and Susannah Hathaway were:

1504 i. Elizabeth Meader, born in 1802 and died unmarried in 1877.
1505 ii. Maria Meader, born in 1803 and died in 1844. She married Joseph Wheat. They had no children.
0197 iii. Burton Hathaway Meader, born in 1805 and died in 1879.
2) Lucy Bromley of Danby, Vermont, born in 1790 and died in 1876, on April 14, 1808.

0199 v. Hiram Meader, born in 1810 and died before 1883.
1506 vi. James Meader, Jr., born in 1812.
1507 vii. Bromley Meader, born in 1813.
0200 viii. Ann Meader, born in 1814 and died in 1872.
1508 ix. Bethuel Meader, born in 1817 and died in 1883. He was unmarried, a bookkeeper in Chazy, He was buried in the West Chazy Rural Cemetery.
0201 x. Lucy Meader, born in 1823 and died in 1901.
