0007. Nicholas Meader (c.1683 1767)

Nicholas Meader, son of John Meader, Jr. (1660-1736) [0002] and Sarah Follett (1654-1725), was born at Oyster River about 1683 and died in Durham, NH in 1767, aged 84 or 85 years.

He left the parental roof at an early age. On March 18, 1734 he purchased 25 acres of the common and undivided lands for eight shillings. Nicholas Follett, "a mariner," on July 1, 1710 conveyed lands to his "cozen Nicholas Meader" (Reg. 5.38). On April 14, 1737 he moved to Durham and settled on land owned by his grandfather. On August 17, 1738 "Joseph Meader of Nantucket and Nicholas Meader of Durham entered a division of land, being part of the homestead of their father John Meader [0002], late of Durham, deceased." It is signed by Nicholas and Joseph Meader. He also held a grant of land in Madbury, Stratford, NH.

He married:

0020 v. Daniel Meader, born November 6, 1718 in Durham.
1199 vi. David Meader, born in 1720 in Durham.
2)     Sarah, probably surnamed Hoag. They had no children. Her daughter Sarah married David Meader.
