Joyce Elaine Meader, daughter of Raymon Francis Meader, Jr.(1922-2018)[0679] and Elaine Humphrey (1920-2015) , was born November 13, 1953 in Bridgeport Connecticut. She graduated from Roger Ludlowe High School in Fairfield, Connecticut in 1971, then graduated from the University of Connecticut: BS in Animal Science 1975, MS in Dairy Science 1980. Joyce attended the University of Nebraska, studying Ruminant Nutrition before returning to Connecticut as herdsman for Grandpa Hill Dairy Farm, East Haddam, until joining the University of Connecticut Extension System as a Dairy/ Livestock educator for 34 years at the Windham County Extension Center, Brooklyn, Connecticut. Joyce retired in 2019 on Cape Cod with Barnstable native and husband, Stephen McCarthy. She enjoys hiking with her dog, Shiva, and grandsons. The children of Joyce Meader and her husband, Mark Kisby (1952-2012), are: i. Geoffrey Meader Kisby, born December 4, 1986. ii. Arthur Pearce Kisby, II, born March 5, 1989.
