1605. Nathaniel Augustus Newell Meader (1827 - 1914)
Nathaniel Augustus Newell Meader, son of Benjamin Meader (1785-1876) [0140] and Nancy Newell (1792-1867), was born August 15, 1827 in Gardiner, ME and died June 14, 1914 in Toledo, Tama, IA. He served in the Union Army in the 21st Maine Infantry and saw action in the Port Hudson campaigns in 1863. When he enlisted, August 15, 1862, he was 35 years old and the father of three children, the youngest then seven months. After his discharge in August, 1863 he moved with his family to Toledo.
He married Lucy Jane Flagg Neal at Chelsea, ME September 17, 1854. She was daughter of John Rollin Neal (1799-1872) and Delilah Blaisdell (1800-1860) of Georgetown, ME, born in Litchfield, ME October 25, 1834 and died in Toledo January 7, 1917.
