1016. Valentine Meader (1810 - 1893)
Valentine Meader, son of Joel Meader (1781-a.1870) [0123] and Rebecca Austin ( - ), was born April 12, 1810 in Ferrisburg, VT and died in Madrid, Boone, IA December 6, 1893. He probably traveled from Ferrisburg to Farnham, Quebec with his parents in the late 1820s, from there to Pennsylvania where his first son was born, and then west. He is listed in the 1840 Census as then in Elkhart County, IN. The family, including the first five children, is listed there in the 1850 Census. In the 1860 Census he was in Madison Township, Polk County, IA. He seems to have been nicknamed "Hal" in Iowa.
He married a Sarah, born about 1818 in Ireland and died December 24, 1886. The couple are buried in the Hopkins Grove Cemetery of Madrid.
