John William Meader, son of Glenn S. Meader (b.1902) [0510] and Elizabeth McDonald (b.1903), was born February 11, 1932 in La Crosse, WI. August 30, 1955 he married Mildred Button in Anniston, AL. She was the daughter of Leon Edward Dutton and Alice Marie Bittle.
He attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology, receiving a BS (Chemical Engineering) degree in 1953 and an MS degree in 1954. He was a Lieutenant in the Army Chemical Corps until 1956, when he returned to MIT to continue his studies. He joined the faculty of Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1960 as a Professor of Chemical Engineering.

Obit: John William Meader, 82, of Rainbow City, Alabama, formerly of Northborough, Massachusetts, passed away on March 7, 2014. Born in La Crosse, Wisconsin to Glenn S. and Elizabeth (McDonald) Meader, John graduated from Heidelberg (Germany) High School and received Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He is a member of Theta XI Fraternity. John was pursuing a doctorate degree at MIT when he was selected to join the chemical engineering faculty at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). He served as a professor at WPI for over 32 years, retiring in 1992. He was also a consultant to several local companies. John was a very faithful man and was a member of Riverview Baptist Church at the time of his passing. He was previously a member of the Church of the Nativity in Northborough and the Belmont Street Baptist Church in Worcester. He was also a member of the Gideon's International. John is survived by his wife, Phyllis of Rainbow City, Alabama; son John L., daughter Elizabeth Krouse, and grandson Dodson Krouse, all of Northborough; brother Glenn S. Meader, Jr., of Reston, VA; several nieces and nephews; and many friends and acquaintances. He was preceded in death by his parents and wives Mildred (Dutton) Meader and Laurie (Carlson) Meader. John will be fondly remembered for his intelligence, wit, sense of humor, and devotion to family and God. A memorial service was held on March 9 at Riverview Baptist Church, Southside, Alabama, officiated by Dr. Matthew Morrison.
