0562. Jerome Clement Meader (1902 - 1970)
Jerome Clement Meader, son of Lyle Daniel Meader (1874-1946) [0453] and Edith May (b.1876), was born June 11, 1902 in Roxbury, MA and died October 11, 1970 in Schenectady, NY. December 7, 1927 he married in Claremont, NH Doris Luella Conner, born February 8, 1906 in Hanover, NH the daughter of Albert Whitney Conner and Mary Agnes Lawler.
Employed by the General Electric Company for 37 years as an Employee Benefit Plans Specialist, he was sensitive to the tragedy he encountered in people's lives. His philosophy of life brought peace to himself and compassion to others. Although his household was sometimes in tight circumstances, the situation was always lightened with humor. He graduated from Fort Wayne, Indiana High School in 1921, and the quotation in his yearbook best describes his personality: "What fluent nonsense trickles from his tongue." A member of the Dartmouth College Class of 1926, he was for many years chairman of the area Dartmouth Alumni Fund and had such feelings for his school that he requested "Dartmouth '26" be inscribed on his tombstone. He was buried in Fairmont Cemetery, Quaker Springs, NY.
He was General Secretary of the G.E. Mutual Benefit Association, a member of the G.E. Management Association, a Boy Scout Committeeman, Official of the Schenectady Interscholastic Sports Carnival and Treasurer of the Easton-Saratoga Half-Yearly Meeting of the Society of Friends.
