1218. Henry Clay Meader (1841 - 1910)
Henry Clay Meader, son of Nathaniel Rogers Meader (1806-c.1870) [0226] and Mary F. Arnold (1813-1859), was born at Cincinnati, OH February 8, 1841 and died at Columbus, OH December 10, 1910. [He was cremated.] He apparently attended school there, possibly through high school. He was wounded in the hand during service in the Civil War and carried the bad hand the rest of his life. After the war he became a railroad ticket broker, dealing in the unused portions of railway tickets, a respectable and highly profitable business. He served as Mayor of Norwood and apparently knew President and Mrs. Cleveland.
April 19, 1877 in Cincinnati he married Jennie Avery Pope, born April 11, 1851 at Genoa, NY daughter of Samuel Wing Pope and Helen Ruth Avery, and died July 15, 1946 at Fort Thomas, KY. They were divorced in 1901.
