Helen Hawkes Meader, daughter of Walter Sidney Meader (1857-1938) [1024] and Lucy Hawkes (1865-1952), was born November 7, 1898 in Providence, RI. She graduated from Moses Brown School in 1916 and received her A.B. degree from the University of New Hampshire in 1921. She taught school in North Woodstock, NH for two years before going to Oak Grove Seminary, Vassalboro, ME to teach French until 1928. Then she spent a year abroad, chiefly in France, including 7 months as a nurse's aide at the Maison Maternelle at Chalons-sur-Marne under the auspices of the American Friends Service Committee. From 1931 to 1949 she taught at Moorestown Friends' School in New Jersey. After her marriage in 1949 she lived in the Meader family home in Dover, helping her husband in his accounting business and continuing it on a smaller scale after his death in 1971.
November 5, 1949 in Dover she married Charles C. Eaton, born March 1, 1894 in Pittsburgh, PA the son of Percival James Eaton and Emily Craft. There was no children of this marriage.
