1028. John P. Meader (c.1832 - a.1880)
John P. Meader, son of Shubael L. Meader (b.1807) [1011] and Abigail Follett (b.1806), was born about 1832 in Industry, ME and appears to have died after the 1880 census. He moved with his parents about 1844 [Volume IV shows 1839] to Indiana where, in the 1850 Census, Shubael Meader was living in Manchester Township, Dearborn County. He was a blacksmith.
He married:
1) Maria L. Moore June 7, 1856, born in May, 1837. In 1860 they lived in St. George Township, Pottawatomie County, KS. In the 1860 Census Maria Meader is listed with the five youngest children and without her husband in Grant Township, Riley County, KS. There must have been a separation, or divorce, for in that same Census John Meader is listed as living in David County, Junction City, with a second wife. At the time of the 1860 Census there was a Russell L. Meader, aged 20 and born in Maine, living with them.
