0522. Monroe Harrison Meader (1900 - 1979)
Monroe Harrison Meader, son of John Flagg Meader (1870-1943) [0418] and Maude Wiswell (1869-1961), was born in New York December 6, 1900 and died in Campbell, CA November 4, 1979. He served in World War I as an enlisted man, and in World War II from July 23, 1942 to February 18, 1946. He served in Sicily, Naples, Foggia, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Central Europe, and he received the Bronze Arrowhead (Sicily), Purple Heart and Bronze Star Medal. He was wounded in action august 16, 1944 in the European Theater. He retired as Lt. Colonel, 297th Engineer Combat Battalion, Corps of Engineers.
On July 11, 1947 he married Gertrude Cornell Warburton, daughter of William Henry and Mary Ann Cornell Warburton. She was born April 7, 1896 in Brooklyn, NY. There were no children of this marriage.
