0509. Violet Irene Meader (1900 - 1928)
Violet Irene Meader, daughter of Charles F. Meader (1862-1933) [0405] and Mary Mayhew (1867-1924), was born at Clinton, IA February 23, 1900 and died there May 27, 1928. She was married May 5, 1917 in Saint Paul, MN to Jeremiah M. Pelton, born November 3, 1892 and died in 1966. He was a machinist.
The children of Violet Meader and Jeremiah Pelton were:
i. Dale Jerry Pelton, born March 20, 1918. He was a machinist. He was married May 11, 1957 in Caledonia, MN to Hazel LeHew, born July 22, 1918. They had no children.
ii. Vernon Russell Pelton, born May 10, 1919 and died January 23, 1920.
iii. Winton Mayhew Pelton, born October 18, 1924. He served in the Air Force in World War II and in the Japanese occupation force. He left the service in 1946. He attended Florida Southern College and Healds Engineering College in San Francisco. He was recalled during the Korean Conflict, served in the 315th Troop Carriers Group, and was discharged in 1960 with the rank of Major. He then went to general Dynamics, Atlas Missile Division, San Diego, until 1967, when he joined the Navy Electronics Laboratory Center in San Diego. He was married January 21, 1947 at Berkeley, CA to Patricia Joy McCurdy, born August 22, 1927. They had three children.
iv. Lee Edwin Pelton, born November 21, 1925 and was drowned in the Grand River at Grand Rapids, MI February 27, 1956. He served as Gunners Mate in the Navy during World War II. He was not married.
