Abigail Susan Meader, daughter of Paul N. Meader (1824-1899) [0298] and Elizabeth Carleton (1823-1874), was born in Center Haverhill, NH July 14, 1856 and died October 20, 1942.
She was educated in the town schools of Haverhill, at Drew Ladies' Seminary, Carmel, NY (in the care of her aunt Mary Carleton, then teaching there), Montebello, Newbury, VT, and finished school life as a pupil at New Hampton Literary and Scientific Institution and Business College, NH.
After school came years of teaching. From early young womanhood she was identified with temperance workers. She Joined the Women's Christian Temperance Union in the youth of that organization. Later she was engaged in rescue work among New Hampshire girls at the State W.C.T.U. Mercy Home in East Manchester. She was a member of the Baptist Church at Peterborough.
