Wilhelmina Therese Meader, daughter of Alvin A. Meader (1820-1905) [0263] and Lydia Sewall (1816-1890), was born November 21, 1848 in Chepachet, RI. She entered Mount Holyoke Seminary in 1867 and was graduated in the class of 1873. She taught for 16 years before and during her marriage. While teaching in the Wilkes-Barre High School she met Robert Nelson, a jeweler, whom she married April 1, 1875. After marriage he commenced business for himself, but he was not successful. She was separated from her husband, returned to her parents, and resumed teaching. After ten years in the West Chester High School and one in Saratoga Springs, she entered Women's Medical College in Philadelphia and graduated in the class of 1891, in her 43rd year and when her son was 16. She located in West Chester, which was her home in 1898.

i. Rufus Edward Nelson, born December 31, 1875. He was a member of the band of the Sixth U. S. Cavalry.
