0113. Lydia Meader (1793 - 1851)
Lydia Meader, daughter of Joseph Meader (1753-1820) [0042] and Elizabeth Gould (1756-1814), his second wife, was born in Rochester, NH on December 28, 1793 and died October 18, 1851. On September 23, 1819 she married William Dean of Lincoln, VT, who was born May 16, 1795 and died June 1, 1874. In 1825 they moved to Charlotte, VT.
Lydia Meader Dean was a minister of the Society of Friends in 1829. In 1835 she made a religious visit to the New England Yearly Meeting. In 1841 she went to the New York, Ohio, Philadelphia and Baltimore Yearly Meetings. In 1847 she went to the New England Yearly Meeting and its subordinate meetings. In 1849 she made a general visit throughout the New England Yearly Meeting. Before this last visit was completed, she returned home because of impaired health. She attended her own meetings until May, 1851. She endured her last illness with resignation. A few days before she died she gave instructions concerning her funeral.
The children of Lydia Meader and William Dean were:

i. Joshua Meader Dean, born April 27, 1823. He married Lucy Miles, daughter of Henry and Mary Miles.
ii. Eliza Hoag Dean, born August 31, 1824. On April 8, 1840 she married James Staples, M.D., son of Asa and Judith Staples.
iii. Sarah Bennett Dean, born February 15, 1825. On October 4, 1843 she married Andrew Holmes, son of Nicholas and Philo Holmes.
iv. Lydia Dean, born November 12, 1827 and died August 27, 1831.
v. William Lindley Dean, born May 13, 1833.
He married:

1) Mary Paige, daughter of Joshua Paige. They had three children.

2) Anne Hoag, daughter of Joseph, and Mary Hoag.
