0063. Ephraim Meader (1785 – 1871)

Ephraim Meader, son of Benjamin Meader (1736-1827) [0022] and Patience Varney Hanson (1741-1825), was born December 11, 1785 in Rochester, NH and died April 26, 1871, in his 86th year, probably in Sandwich, NH. He apparently moved to Sandwich just before or at the time of his first marriage, for both his wives lived there. He was a farmer and lived in the northern part of town. He was prominent in the Sandwich Monthly Meetings of the Society of Friends, acting in committees and various other capacities.

He married:
1)      Sarah Scribner on July 20, 1814. She was born July 2, 1784 and died May 17, 1820.
The children of Ephraim Meader and Sarah Scribner were:
0159 i. Oliver Meader, born July 13, 1815 and died October 30, 1892.
1427 ii. Benjamin Meader, born November 20, 1816 and died March 17, 1841.
0160 iii. John Hanson Meader, born January 4, 1819.
2)      Hannah Cook on April 30, 1825. She was born May 21, 1792 the daughter of Joel and Betsey Cook of Sandwich, and died there May 20, 1878, the day before her 86th birthday.

1428 v. Sarah Scribner Meader, born September 22, 1827.
0162 vi. Otis Meader, born April 5, 1830.
0163 vii. Ephraim Hanson Meader, born April 2, 1836 and died August 31, 1865.
1429 viii. Elizabeth Hannah Meader, born May 18, 1839. She married Joseph Smith. They had no children.
