Joseph Meader, son of Joseph Meader (1681-1759) [0005] and Charity Nason (b.1682), was born on Nantucket October 24, 1719, and he died at Rochester, NH in 1796 at 77 years of age. He moved to Durham, NH with his family in 1724 and was living there in 1763. He was a farmer and carpenter. His wife, Widow Martha (Marshall) Appleby, had a son Thomas by her first marriage, who lived in England in 1763.
He was considered wealthy, and after the English custom he left all his property to his eldest son, George, who squandered it and was reduced to beggary. Joseph Meader spent his last days with his son, Joseph.
