Waldo Henry - Born November 30, 1905, Died June 15, 2000 - Son of Charles E. Meader [2863].

Married Beatrice Lavinia Libby, February 21, 1942.

Adopted 2865 i, Terry Arlington Meader (formerly Lawless) in 1950. Terry was born in Lewiston, ME October 26, 1944 and died in the house my grandfather built on December 15, 2015.
The house is in Springvale, ME.

My grandfather sold the G.A.R. camps on Mousam Lake in 1983. The rental camps were built in the late 1800s for rusticators. The camps were named after Union Generals and one Admiral. I can remember some of the renters, who came back year after year, some for the entire summer like the Thompsons from Rhode Island. I have a newspaper article from the 1980s about the camps framed in my house.

My grandfather was a carpenter by trade and built many houses in this area until he retired at the age of 70. Grandpa was also an incredible gardener, maintaining a very large subsistence garden every year. He also grew the most beautiful gladiolas which he would put in a bucket for folks to take as freebies. My grandmother, Beatrice, was a schoolteacher. Her first 3 years were in a one-room schoolhouse in Shapleigh which now houses the Acton-Shapleigh Historical Society. She retired after 42 years in the Sanford School District, teaching 5th grade at the Hamlin school where she had my father for a pupil! I also had Grammie as a substitute teacher on several occasions.
