Elizabeth Shirley Meader, daughter of Robert Meader (b.1898) [0565] and Lillian Wells (b.1904), was born in Cambridge, NY December 17, 1921. She was graduated from Greenwich High School and was employed by the New York Telephone Company in Greenwich and Troy. She was with Navy PBX in Sampson, NY, during World War II.
She was active in the Parent Teachers Association for 16 years, helped reorganize the Stillwater Boy Scout Troop, started a Girl Scout Troop and a Community Scholarship Association, and chaired all local fund drives at least once. She was a special census leader for Mechanicville and Stillwater. She ran for Stillwater Town Councilman and lost by 17 votes to the incumbent.
She married:
1) Thomas Joseph Sweeney in Hyde Park, NY, December 21, 1942. They were divorced March 22, 1946. There were no children.
2) Valentine Vega, Jr., January 15, 1949 in Ticonderoga, NY. He was born June 18, 1912, the son of Valentine and Maria Vega, and he died April 28, 1968.
The children of Elizabeth Meader and Valentine Vega were:
i. Alan Vega, born October 24, 1949. He lived unmarried in Riverdale, MD.
ii. Paul Valentine Vega, born March 21, 1953. He lived unmarried in Mechanicville, NY.
iii. Betsey Lee Vega, born May 24, 1955. May 31, 1975 she married Charles Judkins, Jr. They lived in Lake George, NY.
