Leon Burton Meader, Jr., son of Leon B. Meader (b.1908) [0530] and Mary Jacobus (b.1911), was born March 6, 1941 in Charleston, ME. March 11, 1961 he married Ruth Lee Gray in Lexington, MA. She was born July 15, 1941 daughter of Clyde Gray and Leola Meader [2030]. They lived in Rochester, NH.
His family moved to West Acton, MA, and he was graduated from the Acton-Boxborough Regional High School. He attended Wentworth Institute in Boston. They moved to Rochester, where he was President of the Budel Construction Corp. and Rochester Lands, Inc., which he both founded and ran.
In late 1975 they purchased the family farm in Rochester, which was originally cleared and settled by Benjamin [0022], Nathaniel [0023] and Elijah [0025] Meader. The farm had continuously been in the family since it was first farmed. Parts of the barn and woodshed date back nearly to the earliest time, and some of the farming implements, hand tools and furniture are of similar age.
In 1976 the New Hampshire American Revolution Bicentennial Commission awarded Leon, Jr. and Ruth a Certificate of Congratulations, a bicentennial medal, and a dooryard display sign in recognition of their being the owners of a farm which had been retained in the same family for at least 200 years.
The children of Leon Meader and Ruth Gray were:
2305 i. Lorraine Susan Meader, born September 2, 1961.
2306 ii. Linda Mary Meader, born June 20, 1963.
2307 iii. Robert Paul Meader, born October 12, 1964.
