Charles Abbott Meader, son of Forrest Whitaker Meader (b.1906) [0514] and L. Katherine Abbott (b.1905), was born August 15, 1935 in Brooklyn, NY. In Detroit on September 6, 1958 he married Nancy Ruth Brecht of Detroit, who was born August 6, 1937.
Charles Meader was graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Dartmouth with his A.B. degree in art. He was a member of Kappa Kappa Kappa fraternity. He spent a year at the Sorbonne on a Reynolds Fellowship. He received his M.A. degree in Fine Arts from the University of Colorado in 1960. He was assistant and associate professor in the Arts Department of Colby College from 1961 to 1974 and later freelanced as an artist, painter and film maker in Maine. He was secretary of the Maine Film Alliance. He and his wife made, displayed and sold pottery and were involved in many community affairs.
