0215. Elvira Meader (1821 – 1867)

Elvira Meader, daughter of Ezra Meader (1787-1861) [0109] and Martha Hoag (1787-1865), was born April 4, 1821 and died January 21, 1867. September 25, 1845 she married Peter F. Swett, born September 1, 1820 son of Stephen and Rachel Swett of Parsonfield, Maine. They lived several years in Sandwich, NH and then moved to Amesbury, MA.

Some time after Elvira Meader's death Peter Swett married Charlotte Hunt, widow of Elisha Hunt, who brought with her two sons by her former marriage, Frederick and Frank D. Hunt. Frank Hunt married Emma Swett.

The children of Elvira Meader and Peter Swett were:
i. Martha Elizabeth Swett, born February 27, 1847.
ii. Stephen Oliver Swett, born February 23, 1850 and died August 8, 1855.
iii. Elvira Lucretia Swett, born July 9, 1853 and died July 9, 1861. She evinced a degree of Christian grace during a long and severe illness far beyond her years, and she often spoke of her Heavenly Father, that she loved Him and that He knew best how long to continue her suffering. She was fond of reading the Bible, which she had frequently read to her during her illness even when in great distress.
iv. Emma Huldah Swett, born January 26, 1857. She married Frank D. Hunt, as above.
