0212. Valentine Joseph Meader (1819 – 1858)

Valentine Joseph Meader, son of Valentine Meader (1777-1837) [0106] and Joanna Battey (1791-1816), was born April 18, 1819, probably in Ferrisburg, VT, and died July 16, 1858. He married Sarah Farr, daughter of Noah and Abigail Farr and younger sister of Noah Farr, Jr. who married Eliza Meader [0211]. Sarah Farr was born in 1818 and died April 20, 1861.

He moved with his parents to Vassalboro, ME in 1832. His father being in feeble health and traveling in the service of the Gospel, his early education devolved upon his mother, and as he grew in years he bowed more fully to the yoke of Christ. For several years before his death he occasionally expressed words of love and counsel in religious meetings, much to the satisfaction of his friends. The prospect of separation from his wife and child was for a season a source of much anxiety for him, but he finally resigned them with the assurance that they would be cared for by the Heavenly Father.

His wife died April 20, 1861 in Winslow, ME. To a friend who was with her in her last illness she said:

“I love my Savior, and I love my friends." On another occasion she said: "My talents have not been improved as they should have been." "0h, it will be a glorious meeting, when parting will be no more."
The child of Valentine Meader and Sarah Farr was:
0368 i. Abby Anna Meader, born about 1845.
