Alpheus Meader, son of William Meader (1785-1880) [0080] and Celia Luce ( – ), was born September 25, 1815, probably in Industry, a part of Farmington, Franklin, ME, and died in 1850, perhaps in Springfield, MA. He married Abbie Phillips, who died about 1845, probably in Lowell, MA.
They lived in Lowell, MA, where he worked in a machine shop. He was ill with consumption and was helped by the International Order of Odd Fellows. Upon advice he went to Springfield to take the water cure. His eldest daughter, Rachel, went with him. After his death his children found their way back to Maine, although all seem to have left there again.
