Joshua Meader, son of Joseph Meader (1753-1820) [0042] and Abigail Field (1759-1784), was born in Durham, NH August 2, 1782 and died June 27, 1847. On January 2, 1806, at Berwick, Maine, he married Phebe Rogers, daughter of Paul and Deborah Rogers of Berwick, who was born September 6, 1787 and died November 7, 1867, in her 81st year.
He was a hatter by trade. For 25 years he was a faithful and esteemed Elder of the Berwick Monthly Meeting of Friends. He was clear-sighted and discreet, carefully watching over the flock for good. His last illness was attended with much bodily suffering, which he bore with fortitude. Previous to his death he was favored to know that the end was near, and to feel assured that all would be well with him. When asked if he was willing to go, he answered, "How can I doubt, now that I see the end?"
