0030. Francis Meader (1746 – 1832)

Francis Meader, son of John Meader (1713-1797) [0012] and Hannah Stewart (1736-1798), was born on Nantucket March 11, 1746 and died in Industry, Maine July 25, 1832, in his 87th year. On November 7, 1768 he married Mary Holly from Martha’s Vineyard, who was born May 24, 1751. They lived for a time at Edgartown, probably until after the 1790 Census, which shows Francis living there with one other adult male, four young males and three females. Later they moved to Farmington, Franklin, Maine, a portion of which town was incorporated in the town of Industry.

Francis Meader served as a private in Captain Benjamin Smith's Company, Massachusetts Troops, during the Revolutionary War.
